The Most Expensive Wines in the World Are…

In the month of June, the Magazine and website Wine Searcher have released a list of what they consider to be the 50 most expensive wines in the world. Regardless of their vintages and auction value which are not taken into consideration, the prices are based on a volume of a bottle containing 75cl.

Burgundy wines are 36 of the top 50 wines in this list. Based on their classification, the most expensive wine in the world is the Richebourg Grand Cru Cuvée by late Henri Jayer (approximately 11, 300€). There are five Bordeaux wines with Petrus from the Pomerol Appellation at the top costing 2,180€. Then there are three wines of Champagne with the highest ranking being that of Krug, and only one Rhone Valley, with the Cuvée Cathelin Appellation Hermitage Domaine by Jean-Louis Chave at approximately 1,400€ for an average price. There are also two wines in this ranking coming from the USA, one from Australia, a port from Portugal and a German wine. (See list below)

If you go to Wine searchers site, you will find that this month they’ve done the 100 most searched for the month of July. Here most of the wines are coming from Bordeaux or are Bordeaux in style, but from other countries. Wines representing counties like Italy with Sassicaia and Ornellaia. But there are other Regional wines from Rhone, Champagne and Burgundy in *France, California in the USA, Australia, Spain and Portugal.
