Structured Red Wines

Rg2 : Wines with a certain tannic structure that aids in its aging or development.

Synonyms: Medium-bodied, Full-bodied

This family includes the more powerful wines generally intended for cellaring. Many varietals are known to give tannins in wine [Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvédre, Syrah …] the extraction of tannins is required by long maceration process. Warm climates are conducive to the production of powerful tannic wines.

Harmony: Grilled red meats or meats in sauces, wild game, marinated meats

Temperature: 60 – 65°F / 16 – 18°C
