1/2 Sweet to Sweet White Wines

Wh3: half dry, half-sweet or sweet white wines

Synonym: Off dry – Demi-dry – demi-sweet – half-sweet – Sweet – Fortified wines

This category of wines more or less rich in sugar. Their sweetness is due to either oenological practices such as fortifying the wine by adding grape brandy as in the case of Ports; or is an over-concentration or ripeness of natural sugars in the grapes before harvest [late harvest and noble rot …]It would be simplistic to believe that this family has as its sole interest richness in sugar concentration. The phenomena also affect positively their aromatic bouquet.

Harmony: desserts, fruit sorbets, blue cheeses, foie gras …

Temperature:  40 – 45°F / 6 – 8°C
